Hungarian Ambassador Visits TUFS

On Monday, May 23, H.E. Dr. István Szerdahelyi, the Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary to Japan, made a visit to TUFS. He conversed with TUFS President, Hirotaka Tateishi; TUFS Vice President, Yasuo Soma; Director of TUFS Institute of International Relations, Hirotaka Watanabe; and Associate Professor of the Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) and Visiting Scholar at TUFS Graduate School of Global Studies, Dr. Yuko Umemura. The ambassador expressed his high expectations for the Central European Studies’ Hungarian Studies Program which was organized last year.

Dr. Szerdahelyi, who is knowledgeable about Japan, delivered a lecture titled “Hungary in the EU” in Japanese in Prometheus Hall, which was hosted by TUFS Institute of International Relations. He told fascinating stories about Hungary, which is a historically and culturally distinctive country, in front of an audience of about 350 from both inside and outside TUFS. At a question-and-answer session after the lecture, he answered questions from students in a straightforward and candid manner.
