Rwandan Director Takes the Stage at African Film Screening
November 20, 2017
On Friday the 13
th
of October, TUFS Cinema held the first session of its African Film Series, and screened the film 'Africa United,' a film centered on a group of Rwandan children.
This film series project came to fruition thanks to a dialogue in '
Shisou,
' a magazine run by Professor Ichiro Majima (Institute of Global Studies, Cultural Anthropology Specialist) and Professor Masanori Oda (TUFS contract lecturer, contemporary art and cultural anthropology specialist), who also acted as presenters at the session. After the screening, a free talk session was held by Rwandan director Eric Kabera, and Miho Yoshida (representative of Cinema Africa). The event was a full house of both TUFS students and visitors from outside the university, and the question and answer session, which followed the free talk session, was very lively.
On Friday the 27
th
of October, 'Africa Paradis' will be screened for the second session of the African Film Series.
