Lecture by Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Japan and Signing of Academic Exchange Agreement with Sultan Qaboos University
May 9, 2022
On Monday, April 25, 2022, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Said Al Busaidi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Japan, visited TUFS and delivered a special lecture to the first-year Arabic, Persian, and Turkish Language Majors in the School of Language and Culture Studies, and the Middle Eastern Studies Majors in the School of International and Area Studies. The lecture was followed by a Q&A session, providing an excellent opportunity for first-year students to learn more about Oman.
After the lecture, a signing ceremony was held for an international academic exchange agreement between Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) and TUFS. Ambassador Busaidi was present at the signing ceremony, and President Kayoko Hayashi signed the agreement, which had already been signed by the President of Sultan Qaboos University. Sultan Qaboos University is also Ambassador Busaidi's alma mater.
This agreement was finally concluded thanks to the generous cooperation of Ambassador Busaidi, the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Japan, Mr. Haruo Endo, Chairman Emeritus of the Japan-Oman Club, Mr. Hideaki Yamamoto, Emergency Relief Coordinator, International Cooperation Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Japan in Oman, and other related organizations. This is the first academic exchange agreement with a country in the Arabian Peninsula, although last year academic exchange agreements were concluded with the Middle Eastern countries of Jordan and Syria.
