International Education Support Office holds Festivals Around the World Event
March 26, 2025
On Thursday, March 20, 2025, 25 people, including 14 children, attended the Festivals Around the World Event held by the International Education Support Office (IES).
In preparation for this event, four international students worked together as part of the IES “Yomikikase Working Group” to make presentations introducing the festivals of their home countries. The festivals introduced at this event were “Rio’s Carnival” by two first-year School of Japan Studies students from Brazil, “Eid” as celebrated in Qatar and Indonesia by a first-year School of Japan Studies Indonesian student raised in Qatar, and “St. Patrick’s Day” by an ISEP student from Ireland.
The participants enjoyed learning about the various celebrations and traditions at each festival, and they especially enjoyed trying samba dancing and Irish dancing, and coloring in together with the international students.
Comment from a participant: “It was very interesting to learn more about festivals from other countries.”
