Report Meeting for Japanese Language Education Intern at Leiden University

On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, the Office for International Affairs and the Japanese Language Education Digital Innovation Center co-hosted the “2024 AY Report Meeting for Japanese Language Education Intern at Leiden University” via Zoom.

At this report meeting, the graduate student enrolled in the second year of the Japan Studies Program at the Graduate School of Global Studies, who was dispatched as a Japanese language education intern to Leiden University (Netherlands), with which TUFS has an academic exchange agreement, reported on her activities and insights gained in the Netherlands.

The graduate student was dispatched to Leiden University as a Japanese language education intern, where she was responsible for teaching Japanese language courses over two academic semesters. Additionally, she served as the coordinator of the TUFS Global Japan Office located at Leiden University, engaging in a wide range of activities such as organizing Japanese cultural workshops and student exchange events.

At the report meeting, the student thoughtfully shared her experiences, focusing on details of her teaching practice at Leiden, Japanese language instruction using the indirect method in English, and the appeal of being a Japanese language teacher.

The report was very informative for students interested in Japanese language education at TUFS partner universities, including Leiden University, Bo?azi?i University (Turkey), and the University of Jordan (Jordan).

The report was attended by students and faculty members interested in Japanese language education and international exchange, and there was a lively exchange of opinions during the question and answer session.

The Japanese Language Education Digital Innovation Center plans to continue expanding opportunities for overseas educational internships and internships, while also fostering greater interest in Japanese language education within the university through the sharing of insights by those who have participated in such programs.
