2010年6月 月次レポート(エルジュルディ?シリーン レバノン)
June Report of JSPS/ITP 2010
Shirine El Jurdi
This month was saved to look at the gender debate among different stakeholders; ranging from women NGOs (an umbrella one, state-led, and governmental), women politicians, women in political parties vis-a-vis the ministerial statements and main politicians perception of gender issues and their relevance within the Lebanese case.
It was important to look closely at the issue of citizenship that women NGOs were tackling, the strategies, mechanisms, networking, mobilization that they used versus the political/legal/religious/ social structure. Professor Mbarak helped with the contacts and continued to follow up on my work according to the outline.
The findings are yet to be analyzed, however, it is clear that gender interests in citizenship issue tends to be a practical interest that is putting women issues at odds with the formal political structure.
Discussions with the director of the National Library of Baaklin were successfully carried out to hold a seminar or a focus group analysis of women's empowerment and political participation with persons in charge.
