2019.10.28
From October 18 to 25, 2019, Prof. Toshiaki Sasao of International Cristian University (ICU) and a COIL coordinator Megumi Aso went to the U.S. and visited University of California, Irvine (UCI) and Riverside (UCR), which are partner universities for the COIL project in the U.S. They had discussions with a Dean Richard Arum, Prof. Fernando Rodriguez, Prof. Stephanie Reich of UCI, a Department Chair Christine Chiarello and Prof. Misaki Natsuaki of UCR about how to coordinate the COIL-type classes and its educational effects. They recognized the importance of the COIL program, and entered an agreement for the cooperation including students exchange between the universities, and discussed the details on the arrangement of inbound/outbound programs. Also, the coordinator Aso made an appointment to meet members of the Southern California Chapter of the ICU Alumni Association and asked for their help in conducting internships. Thanks to them, an internship will work out in relation to the COIL outbound exchange program in January.
